What does acarpous mean?

Is acarpous the same as seedless?

No. A seedless fruit still forms fruit, while an acarpous plant or flower does not produce fruit.

Can an acarpous plant still flower?

Yes. A plant may produce flowers that are sterile, male-only, incompatible, or unable to develop fruit.

Is temporary crop failure acarpous?

The word can describe fruitlessness, but temporary failure may result from weather, pollination, stress, or management rather than an inherent trait.

What is the opposite of acarpous?

Fruitful, fruit-bearing, fertile, or carpous, depending on context.

Can poor pollination make a plant fruitless?
